Gerald is a first generation Canadian, born in Edmonton, Alberta, with East Indian and German roots. As a member of a visible minority with immigrant parents, he recognizes that minority and immigrant views are not often represented on the political stage. He would like to see political discourse take into account the views of diverse people.

Gerald studied Conservation Biology at the University of Alberta. During his time here he developed an interest in ecology and human dominated landscapes. He worked for Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada, conducting research into agroforestry options for Canada. He conducted research into the environmental benefits of agroforestry and agricultural designs that promote biodiversity. He moved to British Columbia for its beauty and to study marine biology and coastal natural resource issues. Gerald is currently a graduate student in the Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia. His research investigates endangered species and fisheries conflicts.

Gerald is eager to advance environmentally conscious and sustainable policies in British Columbia. He is particularly interested in helping to develop endangered species legislation within British Columbia and to have environmental policy guided by sound scientific research and not political and business interests. Current policies poorly represent the views of a diverse society and are ill equipped to foster sustainability. Gerald sees the Green Party as a chance to meet these objectives, and a way to help achieve a sustainable society.
