Shadow Cabinet
The Green Party of BC is recruiting members with policy expertise to fill the roles on Shadow Cabinet to parallel the current provincial ministries.
Members of the Shadow Cabinet are expected to follow policy in their area of responsibility and respond as needed using news releases.
Responsibilities
Along with the Leader and Deputy Leader, Shadow Cabinet Members (sometimes called Critics) will be official spokespersons for the Party. A critic will:
- Know our current policy,
- Speak to it to the media and the general public,
- Describe the policy in terms of Green Principles.
As appropriate, the Critic will:
- Monitor legislation that is coming to the legislature or has been changed through orders in council,
- Respond with a Green critique,
- Draft news releases.
- Brief the Leader and Deputy Leader on issues arising in their policy area,
- Work with other members where there is overlapping responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Is a member in good standing of the Green Party of BC,
- Is an financial contributor to the party either as a monthly donor or as a regular annual donor,
- Will attend our AGMs,
- Has professional qualifications and/or experience for the position,
- Will consider standing as a candidate in the next general election.
