Web Editors
We are looking for people to assist us as editors for various sections of the website. For instance, our "Green Communities" section has a place for "Hot Regional Issues" where people can send us information about a key issue in their area of the province. We are encouraging people to send in photos, videos and text to inform the people of BC about the issue. We need an editor who would be willing to take responsibility for that section of the website: establishing guidelines for submissions and then editing so that it is suitable for the web; and then posting the material to the website. There are lots of other sections of the website that need similar volunteer editors to manage the content and to keep our content current, exciting and vibrant.
This is an exciting position and it will help the Green Party address the relevant issues facing the people of BC. You will be part of our media and communications team and you will work under the guidance of the Executive Director. The ideal candidate has excellent editorial skills; good spoken and written English, and experience editing for a web presence and/or running communication campaigns. using digital media.
Main responsibilities
- Manage a section(s) of our website, creating standards, establishing and communication guidelines, vetting and editing content, posting the content and maintaining the section to a high standard,
- Advise colleagues on the best use of online communications
Skills and experience
- Fluent in English
- Excellent editorial skills
- Ability to edit so writing is engaging and convincing and suitable for the web
Web and IT skills
- Sound understanding of writing for the web and engaging online audiences
- Knowledge of digital trends
- Knowledge of a range of applications and software including social media platforms, content management systems, image-editing software, MS Windows.
Requirements
Because the person filling this role will have access to the website, they must meet the following:
- Be a member in good standing of the Green Party of BC,
- Be a financial donor to the Party,
- Provide a resume and references.
