Oil and Gas
This section deals with oil and gas projects and the transport of fossil fuels along the coasts and rivers of BC. The Green Party of BC believes it is imperative to wean ourselves from fossil fuel usage as soon as possible and to preserve the current resources to help BC make the transition. The primary driving force needs to be dealing with climate change but the issue also involves water and land usage and the protection of fish and animal habitat. BC Greens believe that true accounting for Greenhouse Gas emissions would mean we must take a share of the GHGs that are emitted by the countries to which we ship our fossil fuels. BC Greens would strengthen the Environmental Assessment process to account for cumulative impacts. First Nations would need to be a partner to all decisions.
