Michael Jessen
Michael Jessen has resided in Nelson for 40 years. Michael served as the BC president of the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) for eight years during the 1970’s and 80’s. He is a founding member of the Recycling Council of BC. Michael served two years on Nelson City Council in 1973-74. A graduate of the University of BC, Michael trained as a journalist with the Vancouver Sun and has written more than 700 articles on climate change, recycling, sustainability, and green living, many of which are archived on his Zero Waste Solutions website at www.zerowaste.ca. Michael operated a popular restaurant in Nelson for 10 years and also worked as the recycling coordinator for the Regional District of Central Kootenay for 10 years. He has been a member of the Green Party since 1993.
